Focusing on different mental cleansing challenges is not as easy as I thought it would be. Some days were brutal, but those were the days I learned the most. For instance, my hardest day in the entire challenge was being vegan for a day. It was completely out of my comfort zone; and I did not pass with flying colors. However, I did learn that it is possible to eat a completely different way and enjoy it! My mind was seriously blown!
There were days that came easy to me, such as clearing out my digital clutter. For me, I love cleaning things out that I know will instantly clear my mind. I learned some new tricks along the way that helped clear my digital clutter more than I expected, which is always great!
Before I get into what I am taking away from this challenge, I want to share with you how week four went. This was the most exciting week for me, and I think it was for you as well! If you follow the daily challenges on my Instagram, then I hope you have been inspired to think more positively than normal. I know it is a great focus for me.
Week Four Review
Day 1: No Complaint Day! // I had a few crazy things happen for this challenge: 1. It was a government holiday, which means half of my town was at home for the day, and 2. I straightened my naturally curly hair on a rainy day… Both of these could have caused anyone to complain. However, I focused on the positives about it, and laughed at the things I could not change. All-in-all it was a great challenge!
Day 2: Write down 3 great things that happened today // 1. I am alive and well! 2. I woke up earlier than normal which meant I got to accomplish some extra things. 3. I was able to plan a lot of great upcoming content! I think you are going to LOVE it!
Day 3: Spend 15 minutes in silence focusing on at least one positive attribute about yourself // For this day, I focused on 3 different things: my ambition, gifts, and faith.
Day 4: Compliment a stranger // I enjoyed this as much as the people I complimented!
Day 5: Write a letter to yourself explaining why you are unique // This was a tough day, but I pushed through it.
Day 6: Ask a couple of friends to describe you in 3 words, write them down, and repeat it to yourself throughout the day // This was an interesting day. I was handed a few words I was not expecting; and, to be honest, a bit surprised! This day made my cup runs over with joy!
Day 7: Write out your challenge wins and treat yourself! // I won many days with this challenge, but I was showed just as much. The kindness of those who joined me and the encouragement we were able to share was so touching! I am so thankful for all of you who joined me and encouraged each other! You made this challenge amazing! I hope you treated yourself to something very nice!
Take away from this challenge
One thing I hoped to learn from this challenge was how to clear my mind effectively. I have the hardest time with just being present in the moment. Being unable to clear my mind and unsure of how to do that, this challenge was an exercise to see what would work.
Luckily, I have found a few challenges that I will continue, such as going for a walk, putting my thoughts on paper, exercising some, and affirmations. All of these and a few more helped me clear the clutter in my mind and helped me achieve better sleep than I have in years!
One thing I am going to experiment with more is what I eat. For me, the vegan and meatless meals were challenging for me. I was scared to try them, because I am used to eating whatever I want. However, I feel that to gain better control of my mind, I need to control my cravings. I started eating cleaner around the time I started my minimalist journey. I think it is time to take it up a notch.

What is next for A Welder’s Wife
My schedule is absolutely crazy right now. I know many of you are used to me posting multiple times a week. However, I cannot provide quality content if I continue this schedule. For me, that is just not acceptable. You deserve better than that!
What I want is to provide you with valuable information and quality content about a minimalist lifestyle. For now, I am going to post on Mondays at 4:00am CST, like usual. If you are not subscribed, I encourage you to do so. I do not want you to miss anything!
Starting in March, I am going to finally address questions I have been getting lately. We are going to start with the very beginning of how to start a minimalist lifestyle. From there we will move into other tips of how to live simple, yet fulfilling lives.
I am also working up my own personal story of why I became a minimalist, the transition in my life, the transition in myself, and how you can have the same things. My life has changed so much, and I want the same thing for you!
If you have any questions about a minimalist lifestyle, how to become a minimalist, or anything you would like me to address specifically; please leave it in the comments, or contact me directly.
Last but not least, be sure to check out how Kiara did with the final week. She also linked up each week’s updates for you to check out as well!
